East End Women’s Network Woman of the Year

The East End Women’s Network has chosen Regina as their Woman of the Year.

The East End Women’s Network brings together women of diverse accomplishment and experience, directing women into policy-making positions through the dissemination and sharing of career opportunities; to educate members and the public on issues affecting women on the East End; and to promote the interests, conditions and positions of women in science, business, industry, labor, government, the arts, education and public service.

Geraldine A. Ferraro Award Recipient

Regina will be the recipient of the Hon. Geraldine A. Ferraro Award at the Nassau Women’s Democratic Caucus and East End Dem Women PAC . The Hon. Geraldine A. Ferraro award will be bestowed upon Assemblywoman Michelle Schimmel and Regina M. Calcaterra. Featured speakers include Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy, the Hon. Judith Jacobs and the Hon. Vivian Viloria Fischer.

Guest Speaker Women’s History Month

The Smithtwon Democratic Club (a town where Regina lived with her siblings during her youth) has asked Regina to speak before the club in honor or Women’s History Month. Regina happily takes advantage of any opportunity to swing by the St, James Elementary School, Branch Brook School, the St. James General Store and Cordwood Beach.

Centereach High School Women’s History Month

Regina was asked by Gene Moreno, a Centereach High School (CHS) teacher, to serve as the Keynote Speaker to CHS Women’s History Month Celebration after she read that Regina was grateful to her CHS teachers for their help in inspiring her to go college. Regina was told that her “personal story is both inspirational and unique in that she beat all the odds” and became a female role model. Regina is looking forward to returning to CHS for the first time since she graduated in 1984.

Regina has been asked to speak at several Rotary Clubs on Long Island regarding her experiences growing up in Suffolk County foster care, aging out parentless and the need to get older foster children adopted through You Gotta Believe. Regina is a Board Member of You Gotta Believe, an award winning organization that gets older foster children adopted thus preventing them from facing the perils of homelessness.
